Some years ago, my wife had surgery. A friend gave her a bromeliad in bloom to cheer her in her pain. After it finished blooming, it developed new shoots at the base. I repotted the plant, discarding the parent and keeping one of the shoots. Now, after several years, that shoot is starting to bloom.
I tentatively identified it as either a Guzmania or a Neoregelia. After looking at photos of various species within both genera, however, I now have some doubts.
Can anyone identify this "brom"?
